The foundress of our Community one-day heard in her heart the words of Our Lord; "My people do not
know Me. Those who were to give witness to Me no longer do so." With these words she also felt
the deep sadness in the heart of Our Lord Who has been left alone and abandoned by so many of His
specially chosen ones. From that time on she felt called to give witness to the reality of the
living God and to do all that she could to make Him known, loved and adored in His Church and in
His Eucharistic Presence.
Thus the Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus are called to be enfolded in the
Eucharistic Heart of Christ. There, in His Heart, we are called to contemplate Him and his Love,
to give Him due praise and adoration and to console and make reparation to Him for those who offend
Him, especially in His Church and in the Sacrament of his Love.
We are called to give visible witness to His Real and Living Presence in the world and to make known
his Eucharistic Presence and Love to others. We are called to give visible witness to the Church He
founded and to our faith and fidelity to Him and His Church through our union with and obedience to
His Vicar on earth, the Pope, and to the teaching Magisterium of the Church.
Finally we are called, as was our Holy Father, St. Francis of Assisi, "to heal wounds, to unite what has
fallen apart, and to bring home those who have lost their way," especially those consecrated to the
service of His Church. This we do through the total self-giving of our lives, our prayers, our visible
witness and our own service to the Church in imitation of the poor, humble and obedient Francis all
through the Presence, Power and Love of Christ in the Most Holy Eucharist and under the guidance of
our Immaculate Mother Mary.
