The Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus is a Community-in-Formation moving towards canonical
recognition as a Religious Institute of Diocesan Right under the jurisdiction of the Bishop of the Catholic
Diocese of Des Moines, IA.
We are a religious community of women who undertake the pursuit of evangelical perfection by following the
Rule and Life of the Brothers and Sisters of the Third Order Regular of St. Francis. We live an authentic
religious life as defined for centuries and as still defined by the Roman Catholic Church and our present
Holy Father. We live a life consecrated to God through the profession of the three evangelical counsels of
Poverty, Chastity, Holy Obedience, and we take a fourth vow of Fidelity to the Holy Father and to the
Magisterium of the Church. We live a fraternal life in common, sharing all spiritual and material goods,
sharing a common prayer life, a common distinctive dress, and common apostolates.
We are a contemplative-active community that strives to listen to God in solitude and silence as we adore
His Presence in the Most Holy Eucharistic. It is in the overwhelming and boundless love of our Lord present
to us in this most wondrous Sacrament that we are able to surrender our entire being in total consecration
and sacrifice to Him in order to be His forever. It is from this quiet time with our Lord that we are able
to go forth to do His work in the service of His Church. It is only by His singular gift of Himself to
us that we are able, in our human frailty, to be crucified with Him as we daily strive to love others as
He has loved us.
